At Armando Alvarez Group we are carbon neutral and committed to a sustainable future, taking significant steps to reduce and offset our carbon emissions in all our operations. To this end, we calculate our Scope 1 and 2 emissions, we incorporate renewable energy in 100% of our activities, we are committed to a circular economy model and we reduce, reuse and recycle. In addition, we carry out offset projects thanks to the forestry activities of our company, Alvarez Forestal.
Our goal for the 2030 Agenda is to remain carbon neutral year on year, while reducing our emissions.
Our path towards decarbonisation
Decarbonising a company means reducing or eliminating its carbon footprint. This process involves assessing emissions, setting targets and implementing a plan to achieve them. At Armando Alvarez Group we invest in new technologies to promote energy efficiency, we consume clean energy in our production processes and we increase the use of recycled materials in our products year on year. We also focus on sustainable supply chain management and training employees in more sustainable practices. Complying with environmental regulations and promoting innovation are key steps in this process.
From 2022, we support the global CARBON DISCLOSURE PROJECT (CDP) initiative to disclose, measure and manage our carbon emissions within a framework of transparency and consistency.
Our ultimate goal is to reduce our emissions and maintain carbon neutrality, balancing 100% of emissions with carbon sequestration. By 2022, we reduced our emissions by 28%, demonstrating our commitment to continuous improvement and sustainability.
We offset 100% of our emissions
Once again this year, we have achieved the PAS 2060 Carbon Neutral Declaration for all the companies belonging to the Armando Alvarez Group. To do this, we carry out offsetting projects, thanks to the sustainable management of more than 3,000 hectares of forest land, carried out by Alvarez Forestal, one of the Group’s companies.
Our emission offsetting projects consist of:
- Responsible use of forest stands: we focus on the sustainable use of fast-growing forest stands, such as Eucalyptus Globulus, Nitens and other species.
- Large surface area: we sustainably manage an area of more than 3,000 hectares of forest land, mostly of our own, through the company Alvarez Forestal.
- Precise measurement: we carefully measure the absorption of the forest mass, ensuring the transparency and reliability of our activities.
At Armando Alvarez Group we continue working to reduce and offset our carbon footprint, contributing to a more sustainable and responsible future.
