At the Armando Alvarez Group we are committed to sustainability and to promoting resource circularity and responsible practises for our environment.
Within this context, we have developed sustainable and circular FFS (Form, Fill and Seal) tubing. The FFS tube contains 30% recycled material and is part of a 360º closed circuit that reuses material by recycling in order to give it a second life. This also reduces CO2 emissions by 15%.
The advantages of our circular FFS tube:
- Promotes resource circularity
- Increases the availability of post-consumer waste matter (PCW)
- Favours PCW homogeneity
- Includes 30% of PCW in its formulation
- Ensures the traceability of the materials used
- Reduces the CO2 footprint by 15%
- Is European certified
- Is 100% recyclable and can be reused at the end of its life cycle.
One example of this is our company Silvalac, which has collaborated with DOW on the project ‘Un saco para toda la vida’ (A sack for life), becoming part of this 360º circuit and giving the FFS tube a second life.
In this case, the circular process of the sustainable FFS tube is as follows:
- DOW packages raw materials in polyethylene sacks.
- The Armando Alvarez Group receives the sacks and uses the raw material to manufacture its products.
- These sacks are stored and recycled at our own certified recycling plant, where they are turned into recycled plastic pellets.
- The recycled raw material returns to our factories, where it is used to create the sustainable FFS tubing.
Lastly, the FFS tube is supplied to DOW Tarragona, so that its raw materials are packaged, circling back to step 1.
Two companies committed to sustainability.
The circular FFS tube is part of our innovative Ecosolutions offering, which aims to promote the circularity of our products once they reach the end of their useful life, and which is part of our GoCircularPlastics sustainability plan.
This is why the Armando Alvarez Group collaborates with other companies that share our same vision. This is the case of DOW, which shares with Silvalac the commitment to seeking sustainable solutions that will reduce CO2 emissions and will achieve resource circularity.
